Texas auctioneers must renew their license annually to continue working in the state. You can find your expiration date on your license, but don’t wait until then to take action. Complete Approved Continuing Education 

The most significant work you’ll have to do to maintain your license comes in the form of continuing education requirements. The TDLR mandates auctioneers to complete six hours of approved continuing education courses. At least two of those hours must cover laws and regulations governing auctioneers in Texas. 

You should schedule your CE throughout the year to avoid any disruptions. Courses must be completed within the term of the license you’re renewing. If you fall behind and renew late, your CE requirements must fall within the one-year period before your actual renewal date. 

Once you complete a course, make sure that you keep your certificate of completion for at least one full year. Approved course providers report hours directly to the TDLR, but it’s up to you to check the lookup system and verify that they’ve been processed. Renew Online With the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation 

Once you’ve got your continuing education squared away, you can submit your renewal application through the TDLR’s online licensing services system. Online renewal is a quick and easy process. You submit your renewal, attach the required documentation, and pay the fee. 

Once renewed, the system lets you print a copy of the renewal letter right away. Keep a copy for your records in case you face any issues in the future. You should also take care to update your contact information, address, or business details if they’ve changed over the last year.
